1 Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Genesis 12:1-3 ESV
In Genesis chapter 3, God clearly acted in His righteousness to bring judgment upon sin. Now, in Genesis chapter 12 we see Him acting in grace and mercy, establishing a covenant with Abram (soon to be Abraham). God commanded Abram to leave his land, his family, and the things he was comfortable with. He was not given a final destination, but he was called to follow God wherever He would lead Abram to go.
God called Abram to a high calling. Abram believed God would do the big things He promised but didn’t know the details of how it would all happen.
God keeps His promises, and you can trust that He will take care of all the details.
God has a plan for all of us, but many times we take matters into our own hands because we don’t know all of the details. Maybe you’ve heard from God about something big but took the details into your own hands. Details matter to God. God has called you to something great, something that you were uniquely made for. God keeps His promises, and you can trust that He will take care of all the details.
Abram’s answer to the call impacted future generations. Your obedience to God’s purpose for you will impact the others around you for generations to come.
