An Unchanging God

Year Of the Bible: Week 18

25 Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. 26 They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, 27 but you are the same, and your years have no end. 28 The children of your servants shall dwell secure; their offspring shall be established before you. Psalm 102:25-28 ESV

The psalmist here recognizes that God is unchanging. In the middle of distress, the author knew that he could turn to God who is secure and constant. As we see in this text, it is the psalmist’s sound understanding of the character of God that sustains him as he walks through the gauntlet of trials and tribulations.

Everything else will pass away, but God Himself will remain the same

People will let us down. Careers will disappoint. Nothing in all of creation can offer the lasting security our hearts long for. Only the One who never changes can provide the safety our souls truly need. Everything else will pass away, but God Himself will remain the same.

“All that God is He has always been, and all that He has been and is He will ever be.” – A.W. Tozer

In a world that shifts beneath our feet, where emotions waver and circumstances come without warning, God remains constant. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever—steadfast in His love, unwavering in His promises. When everything else feels uncertain, we can rest in the truth that our God does not change. His character is our anchor, His Word our firm foundation. In Him, we find the security our hearts are desperate for.
